Verizon vs. Verizon

So I called the Verizon Wireless 800# last night because Lex (Luthor) got her phone wet and it died (it was a great phone and had already been dropped in the toilet-clean water-2 other times from my back pocket before I gave it to her).

I’m talking to the Verizon lady on the phone telling her that when I added Lex's line a few months ago we had to use my old phone and she asked whether or not the Verizon store (that I went to) offered a new phone at the time of the line addition (which led to a contract change at the time). They didn’t say anything about being eligible for a phone (not a discount or anything) so I told her and asked if I could do it now that her phone was dead and if there were cheap or free phones available with this line addition (upgrade). She was really nice and offered that there were cheap phones at steep discounts and free phones, it just depended on what I wanted and she could mail it off to me. Yay! Except…I asked her if it was possible to just go into a Verizon store and do the same thing (as the main reason Lex even has a phone is because she’s a latchkey kid and I need to make sure she’s safe plus today is a non-school day and she’ll be home alone-I’d prefer her having a phone). The Verizon lady said ‘sure, I’ll just note your account so they can see it and you’ll be able to get what you need.’ I left the house to the Verizon store…happy.

The Verizon store-not such a good experience. I got there, stood around for about 5 mins in the sales section (watching the 5 sales guys standing in a group, chatting) before someone finally asked if I needed something. I told him I needed a new phone for my daughter. He made me sign in to the sales queue…not sure why he couldn’t just help me…but whatever. So…I waited about 10 mins before they called my name. I went up to the desk and explained what I needed. I also told him that I called the 800# and they left a note on my account in case the store had questions. The store guy (yes, I remember his name but no, I won’t give it) read the notes and snaps ‘those notes don’t mean anything to me’. I was just a bit shocked by his slight outburst…but ok…I’m easygoing….so I let it slide. I said ‘well, basically I’m just trying to get the phone my daughter could have gotten when we added her line a few months ago and when I called the 800#, they said it wouldn’t be a problem’. He said ‘there’s no way we can do that. I can sell you a phone at full price’. Now I really was shocked. I said ‘Hmmm…no. I was under the impression (because the lady on the phone told me) that there were discounted phones, even free ones that I could get’. He snapped at me ‘Fine. I’ll go check with my manager but the stores do different things than if you call’. Ok…I get that but…it’s not like it’s a franchise or anything-the manager isn’t going to lose any money out of his pocket (neither is this guy…actually). So…when he comes back he says ‘I can sell you a phone at the 2-yr contract rates but that’s all’. That’s all? Really? So…end of story? I was thinking ‘jackass-don’t talk to me like an uneducated nitwit-I’m going to jump over this counter and ninja-kick your ass’…but I didn’t. I smiled and said ‘I came to this store when I added Lex's line and wasn’t offered a phone or any information about the ‘one time charges’ that I got charged either (btw) and didn’t have a problem with it. Now you are telling me that I’m not entitled to a discounted phone (as per the Verizon lady on the phone)? Should I just call them back so that you can talk to her?’ He said ‘if you had called Verizon, you should have just let them handle it’. What?!?! Now I’m ticked. I said ‘great. (smile). I’ll just call them back’. So…I do…as I’m standing in the store with 5 salesguys staring at me (noone offering to help btw). I talk to a new Verizon lady on the phone and she tells me (after I tell her my story) that since I’m a Verizon VIP (yeah! Take that Asshole Verizon salesguy!), I’m entitled to special discounts, savings and such since I’ve been with Verizon for so long (9 years!) and spend so much money per month (like 200+$). She also said that she wondered why the salesguy hadn’t noticed that. I thought…whatever. So…in the end, she is FedEx-ing Lex's great new phone to us that only cost me 29$, I’m planning on calling the store manager to complain and I gave Lex a crash course on using my Blackberry so that she could call me on my work phone for the day.

I’ve never had a problem (until now) with Verizon but I have noticed that there is a plethora of salesguys all the time but only 1 tech person in their stores…and that is irritating.

First Post.... Take that!

So...I thought I'd try out this 'blogging' thing. We'll see if (by the end of this first blog) I have bored you all to death. I'm not really sure what I'll be blogging about on a daily basis but ... I promise you ... it might be about my typical mundane life. Well...maybe a little. You'll probably get a little of this, a little of that. You know...variety. You're going to hear about what I had for breakfast, funny quotes from my friends, family and the infamous Lex (Luthor), my complaints about why my pants don't fit well anymore (it's called a treadmill-I know) or how many times this week I used my vibrator. I'm just sayin'...

I have plenty of pet peeves and I'm sure you all will think I'm a stark raving mad bitch sometimes but please remember...I'm also a girl and a Libra (if that means anything to you). Although, since I only know bits about astrology, I can tell you I'm not the 'typical' Libra. But...I digress.

I won't be posting daily, in fact, you might only see 1 post a week. I'm a busy girl! And yes, it may be boring, mundane busy stuff but I can certainly say that I won't allow my life to revolve around this screen (as it already belongs to my crackberry).

And I will certainly allow others to 'ghost-post' on my blog too. If you have a funny story, rant, rave or just an opinion you think EVERYONE should know, let me know.

Ok...here goes...
