Another plastic bag bites the dust!

Will Edmonds bypass Seattle in being 'ahead of the curve' (as CM would put it)?

Local legislation is pushing for the ban of plastic bags in retail outlets in Edmonds!

Story here.

This follows suit of Seattle and their recent ruling to charge people 20 cents for each plastic bag they use when at the checkout counter in hopes to get more people to choose paper or reusable bags.

Edmonds wants to ban plastic bags completely! And I agree! Although some would argue that the 'fad' of the reusable bags is very trendy-it also is very, VERY green-friendly!

Good job Edmonds!

You think it's a good idea!?!? You daft cunt! Fine, you want to use some trendy hemp bag for your groceries, then do that and don't get plastic. But for those of us who use the plastic as garbage bags, or to pick up dog crap with, don't force your lameness on the rest of us…

Now CM...since I've already reamed you via messenger re: the 'cunt' bit, I'll give my response to your plastic bag issue.
You, of all people, know that traditional grocery bags are NOT recyclable because they are made of petroleum products. And I know YOU are a huge advocate of recycling, fuel efficiency, etc.
So...I'm sure you'd favor a more environmentally friendly way to dispose of a certain dog's .... waste.

like leaving it on the neighbors lawn.

Did you know, that plastic bags can be made from biodegradable products? And they work just as well as regular plastic bags? So, if the city of Edmonds or Seattle or any other city, truly cared about the environmental impact of plastic bags, then why aren't they just requiring grocery stores to use those instead of charging a bag tax?

Well true, I agree with you (about the environmentally friendly bags in lieu of the bag tax). As far as I know though, Edmonds is going to completely do away with plastic bags altogether, unlike Seattle's bag tax idea.
But...you know how our local governments work...they want cheapest possible solution (plus, making $ off it isn't bad for them either). Ugh.

And yes, leaving dog waste on the neighbor's lawn is perfect!

Wait...didn't you try to persuade me to buy a house in your area???
